was one of my first ever friends here on DA over three years ago.
She's a super cool girl who has some really awesome art skills - especially in the creative department. Her characters are super keen, and after thinking about different gift arts for people, I thought Kuria deserved something good for her awesomeness.
This is Kuria! I did draw a pupil, although Kuria doesn't have one, I don't believe.
Kuria's stats from her reference sheet:
Sektan Phantom, bony but toned, star on face, barcode, earrings, 24/13 on her ears
And before you go talking about how ugly the legs are, bear with me, please. Kuria has 2 joint legs as opposed to our 1 joint legs, so it was difficult doing perspective and awesomeness.
I did use a picture of a ninja as reference, but the angle, arms, and legs were changed.

Wow. Coming back here to check my messages lately just hasnt been worth it, but for some reason I just had to today. I'm so so happy I did!! Its kind of cheesy to say but when I saw this and read your artist comment I started tearing up. Things have been so hectic and busy lately that I've grown apart from DA and well coming back to find rude notes didnt help it any; but this completely made all that non-existant. I've always enjoyed and respected you as a fellow artist and close friend, because you're such a great person and as a higher skilled artist you've never downed any other artist on their work. I'm happy that you were of the first few artists that watched, supported, advised, and befriended me when I came here. I probably would have given up a few times without kind words from you. I'll always appreciate that. ;-; Even when your art becomes amazingly-stupendously popular and I'm just another squeeling fan. jk. I know you'd never forget your friends no matter how high you're raised.

So, to the wonderfully awesome picture you've submitted.
*spazz's out like a hyper kitten on catnip* You never fail to portray my characters full being. The pose is perfect for Kuria, seeing as she represents my favorite happy-go-lucky side. Plus referencing a ninja pose is just awesome cause ninjas rock my socks off. I know I havent been commenting much or at all lately but i'll make a few statements that should be said here and now. My favorite thing about being an artist is being able to watch other's styles change and develop, but its rare for me to enjoy watching highly skilled ones. Not that they suck or anything is bad about their art. Its just that you dont get to see dramatic improvements in their works. You are and have always been different from that. I always see improvements in your art and that to me is awesome and admireable! I love seeing your characters and hearing their stories unfold. You are quite creative, thorough, and thoughtfull when dealing with them and that is what gives them life.

I really am impressed with how well your anatomy and posing skills have developed even just through your more recent pictures. I've been waiting to see the growth in those two areas and you totally have nailed it. I really dont see the problem with her legs at all. Taking the pose and perspective its in in mind, I see nothing ugly about them. You really did the 2joint legs alot of justice and they look suited to her body, instead of looking weird or deformed. I rarely draw more dynamic poses like this because well.... they look grotesquely disproportionate, so for someone who's never really drawn them you really really did a great job. She looks exactly how she should as far as body-type goes and she looks to be of smaller height proportion as well. She always looks too tall when I draw her, instead of being 5'1-2" like she should be. :3 my top favorite part is something I've never been able to accomplish when drawing her and you pulled it off to the T. Her muzzle shape and size is perfect and how I've always imagined it. It looks neither feline nor canine but still has similar structure to both. Wonderfull thing to see that small detail finally put on paper. I've said this since I first saw your art but I'll repeat it once again since I have time. Your attention to character details(even minor ones) has always shown in your art and never will a commission piece that you do dissappoint a buyer( if anyone ever complains about something, they are just upset that you gave the character more life than they ever could) Kuria's hairstyle is exactly how it should look and exactly how i style mine. Her eye is gorgeous and I adore you for that, cause its the one body feature I'm completely proud of. Very strong looking but it still has that loyal friendly softness that warms the people that bother to get close enough to realize. I've been told mine radiate that feeling as well recently by the v.p. of the company I work for. It was so weird but it shocked all the other workers. The vp never complements anyone, even those who've been there 20+ years. It was the first time we met in person in the 3+ years I've worked there, and I was so freaked that she'd fire me for my hairstyle/color and clothing. >.> they're very neat and strict but she walked over and played with my spiked hair and thanked me for sticking in there when I was left to run the apartments by myself. I got my full-time position finally last thursday after a meeting with the vp's right hand man found out all the jobs I do and how much they were paying me. Seems my supervisors hadn't been reporting the things I was doing that rented out 25 apts in 2 weeks, and that i was also doing maintanence as well as my regular jobs. :3 My job examination paper was full after he left and now the boss's always call me specifically when they see something I've done. ~rambles on and on~ bleh sorry. I've been rather anti-social lately and need to spew. <3 well thank you for such an awesome gift and for helping me out.
